Evolution of Love
Make this a part of your memory
Go on into forever
even if forever doesn’t include a ring you got from me
I want to be the love of your memory,
The one you compare your present to,
The receipt of your past that you wish you could find
to return to I want you to remember This.
I want you to remember all of it.
I want you to remember everything
As it drifts away into tomorrow’s nothing
I want you to remember the good mornings that turned into “remember when’s”
Remember the love of your life that turned into the one that got away
You’re witnessing it. Right now.
I want you to remember this. Be here. In this moment.
This everything, the everything of right now
Remember this heartbeat, the pounding.
The background of suspense
The dry mouth and the lump in your throat
The disorientation from realizing that forever was just fiction.
Remember this. Own this moment. Feel it. Never let it go.
Because this moment is your life And this moment is everything.
Use it To either drift away with the sand of nothing
Or propel forward into forever’s everything. Remember this.
I want you to remember. To live. I want you to remember to live.
At all times. Forever. Remember that the now is the beginning.
The beginning of the end, As well as the beginning of everything.
Let heartbreaks be blessings Remember them.
I want you to remember to turn pain into triumph Misery into victory
Darkness into inspiration. Remember it.
And above all else I want you to remember this.
If you don’t remember anything else
I want you to remember to love even after it hurts.
Love is a lot more than romantic relationships and three word phrases. You can’t control how you feel, only what you do. Life can be full of lots of love and recovery or fear of discovery. As we walk, sometimes we trip; sometimes we fall and feel broken. In the midst of vulnerability and adversity we find our own truth. We can either decide to acknowledge it, ignore it or lie about it. Either way, we’re exposed to it. We can’t crawl out of fear of standing up to that which has crippled us, yet still expect to reach unprecedented heights. Sometimes it’s easier to see the truth about ourselves in the eyes of others and receive support for that which we could not see before, but if you can’t find the courage to love the person you see in the reflection of another’s pupil, you can never expect to fully love the person whose eyes are staring back at you. If you can find the strength, however, to rise from the broken glass of a past mirror and love the new and improved you, do so with all you have to offer. Everything will be fine. Love of others is just as much about love of self as anything else.
Take the risks necessary to be happy.
You deserve it.
See you. Be you. Do more.
